We should always know that we can do anything [Saturday, October 30th, 2010 at 2:10am]
[ mood | hyper ]

 Ahoy there!

I thought I would update the old LJ as I'm currently at a loose end, due to consuming too much caffeine at such a late hour!

So, what's new? I'll start with education I think. I've just commenced my third and final (hurrah!) year at University. The end is finally in sight. I surprise myself at lasting this long. Its' been a fast two and a bit years for sure, at times fun, at times hard work. But all in all a learning curve I'm glad I experienced, if only to make me realise that having so much free time, and no structure (per se) tends to make me go a tad stir crazy. I'm lucky though,as during the summer, and now into the winter I have been/will be working at Royal Mail, which has been a good laugh :)

In other news, I have purchased a motorbike. It's a Yamaha YBR125. I passed my CBT in July, and got the bike in August. So far I've clocked up a staggering 143 miles(!!) I plan on doing my motorbike theory during the Christmas break, and the module 1 and 2 in the Spring of next year. hopefully then I can get a bit bigger bike, such as a Kawasaki Ninja or a Honda CBR. In the same vein, June of this year saw me drive a Ferrari 360 Modena at Sileverstone, for my 21st Birthday. I never thought I would fulfil this dream, so I was ecstatic when I got behind the wheel, and during my second "hot lap" I managed to drop down into third gear, and overtake a Lambourghini. It was a truly awesome day! I hope to drive a Porsche 911 next time :D

Nothing else to report , other than the fact Bianca is getting married next year. I am so excited for her!

New beginnings. [Thursday, April 22nd, 2010 at 2:57am]
[ mood | contemplative ]

My first LJ entry of 2010! The entries in this blog are becoming more and more sparse, as the years progress. So much so I doubt people even read this anymore. Buuuuut! if anyone does, I'll put down where I am right now.

Nearly finished the second year of my degree. I really can't wait until its all over, and I have a job that is more of a career, than a means to an end. This leads nicely into my second point, which is that I have a new job in Costa. Its pretty cool, the people seem nice and the work isn't too taxing, which is always a boon. Although, I used to love coffee, and now I'm around it so much I'm rather bored of it.

I will also be 21 in two weeks, which I'm looking forward too. Although I feel the event will be rather subdued as the majority of my friends will be sitting their final exams at Uni. This is the only time I regret taking a gap year, but alas. I'm sure I'll find something to do, even if it isn't as lively as it could be. Lizzy's 21st will be where its at. A live band AND a keg of ale. What more does a party need?! And my celebrations will be at Silverstone when I get to drive the Ferrari 360 in June. I really cannot wait! I went go-karting today, which was immense fun! And if I can get more practises my strategy will be something to behold. And there is also the trip to Croatia to look forward to. It will be my third trip there, and I'm hoping it will be as amazing as the other times :) I'm also hoping the exchange rate is good!

What else? I now have a BMW325 td which is a lot faster than the Vectra, but perhaps not as cool. The Vectra had its own kind of special style that could not be replicated by any other vehicle. I especially enjoyed its unique trick of frosting up the windows from the inside..........pure genius!

I think thats all for now.

Ciao! x x x x

This time last year.... [Wednesday, February 4th, 2009 at 7:13pm]
[ mood | confused ]

I was probably sitting at home, because it was my day off.

Its strange how things can move on in a year. Like, this time last year I was probably the happiest I had been in a while, everything was so uncomplicated and easy.

You can draw good and bad out of every situation though, and that's not to say I haven't had some good times. But somethings missing. Its true you can be lonely in a room full of people, surround yourself with familiar things but its never the same.

Nice to just do the ordinary "boring" things, and have bad moods and be angry. Not suppress your emotion just because you live in a house full of strangers so feel obliged to be nice all the damn time.

This time next week I'll be looking forward to seeing old Russ, and having a week away from this, driving my car and doing normal stuff.

Peace... x

Burnt Toast. [Wednesday, January 14th, 2009 at 2:04pm]
[ mood | confused ]

Hi there!

Today it is rather cold. I haven't written in here for what seems like forever, well not since November anyway!

The Christmas holidays are almost over and it makes me sad. Back to Uni. Although I think I might have a cunning plan which involves me splitting my time (during term) more between Ipswich and Canterbury. I wish I enjoyed it more, I really do. I'm so envious of my friends who come back raving about it. Although, some agree with me in so much as its overated. I don't know, I'm at a really strange place right now.

I think when I realise what I want to do, the rest will be easy, I just don't want to throw away an opportunity because of how I having been feeling for the past few weeks. I think perhaps I just need some time on my own to make a big list and decide how I want to move forward with this situation... Tis hard :(

On a more positive note I had my hair done today, which is cool and for the first time in almost a year its even on both sides, which cheers me greatly. I am also going out for dinner tonight. Just need to find a nice pub! :)

Peace out, A-town!

Really? [Sunday, November 16th, 2008 at 12:54am]
[ mood | amused ]

Ahoy!

My first LJ entry since I started at uni. Gosh, what an amazing time I've had so far, truly thrills and spills all the way! Highlights so far include the stellar fireworks display, and that time (no, not during English!) when I dressed up in a grass skirt! Some of my finest moments.......

No, it hasn't all be such jolly japes! Its so strange being in such a confined space for such an elongated period of time. Which is for me at least negative. Because I think everyone at some point needs to withdraw from this situation if things are getting too much/stressful, and there isn't really the opportunity. (which is probably why I go home so often!)

I'm already looking forward to December. My days will at last be full of actual work, and I'll be able to indulge in all of the things I usually do and not worry about being strapped for cash. And I'll be able to have a more active social life, which is the one thing that bugs me sooooo much about being here, there's only so much I can try......nice to go out in the evening. Or just for a walk/something different, to stop me from climbing the walls! And of course I'll be looking forward to driving my car again!

Luckily Mum and Dad are coming to visit me tomorrow, so I'll get to go speeding round the D's of Canterbury.........if only for a few hours!

Long time no see! [Sunday, April 20th, 2008 at 8:52pm]
[ mood | nostalgic ]

Good evening!

I was looking back at my LiveJournal, and realising how sparse the entries have been. Almost a year since I last wrote anything! I would attempt to fill the void with ramblings of my gap-year, but I fear they would not make for particularly interesting reading! Instead, I shall speak of today, and more importantly, this summer and next year!

So, today saw me attend the now obligatory Manningtree Car show. It was as always, fun and games with a lot of different cars on exhibit. My favourite had to be the Porsche 911 Turbo, with a top speed of 200mph.(I wonder if this was the actual top speed, or the chap driving made it up to get some extra kudos in the grande ring?!) Sadly we were not exhibiting this year, but next hopefully we can make it, Dad in the capri ghia, me in the BMW.

So, forward to the summer, when I shall be once again going to Croatia for more thrills and spills. This year will be different from last as the group we are going with consits largely of Annie's Uni mates. Shall be fun though, getting to go on Holiday and meet new people! Also, this summer, Lizzy and I are going to Cambodia on a religious visit. It should be really informative, and above all make us appreciate everything we do have, rather than those material objects that we do not.

Then, next year I am off to Kent Uni to do Criminal Justice. After this rather boring year, I have decided I actually cannot wait to get away from the 'swich!

Peace-out! x x x x

P.s If you read this Jawge, Run Lola run is on tomorrow night, on Film4!

Thirty Two. [Thursday, July 19th, 2007 at 6:09pm]
[ mood | blah ]

Today, I wished I was at work. Strange but true. I hate the person I become when I have nothing to do. Today, for example consisted of too much daytime T.V whilst eating jaffa cakes and drinking coca cola. I don't particulary enjoy my job, far from it in fact, but it is a nice feeling to be doing something constructive whilst earning the oh so important money.

Money can change people too. When I have lots of it, or just enough I am generally happy and don't tend to worry too much. But when there is a defecit of the stuff, like now, it makes me sad. I get anxious about every penny I spend. It is also sad that these days every penny I do earn seems to be already designated to some worthy cause or another before it even enters my bank account. However, in my defence a large amount this month has gone towards my holiday so I guess its not just pointless spending.

Speaking of holidays, we go away in precisly six days! I can't wait. It will be a nice change of scenery and hopefully a good oppurtunity to relax before the old results! Everything is happening so quickly, it is quite scary. But, best not to dwell on things before they have even happened.

In other news, I really like the new Hard-Fi single "Suburban Knights" (It is the profile song on my myspace) It has made me happy, that they have a new album out. This means they will have to do promo for it, which hopefully means GIGS! I would really love to see Hard-Fi live, and I'm sure if they do do a gig it won't be hard for me to find an army of fellow fans to attend also!

Devine Command Theory [Thursday, June 21st, 2007 at 11:38pm]
[ mood | contemplative ]

So, Philosophy is over forver. I thought I would be glad as it is so much to learn and take in, but it was so interesting. Never again, will I need to know about Body and Soul, Kant and his insane and crazy moral argument, or even the wonders of the idea of an omniscient God.

And, after Wednesday, no longer will I need to know about Chomsky and his language gene, or Jean Aitchinson, and her strange theories.

Is some knowledge expendable?

I should imagine, over the summer I will forget everything I ever learnt, and my brain will turn into mush. I am rather looking forward to this, lazy days doing nothing but sunbathing, and of course Croatia. I heard that apparently, we are going on a bus, that drives really fast near the edge of a cliff, which scares me slightly!

Tomorrow, I am doing driving and purchasing new jeans for Lizzy's do on Saturday evening.

Saturday evening saw Lizzy, Vicki, Ttam and I all venture down to Felixstowe Ferry for a spot of late night crabbing! It was much fun. We had plenty of provisions, in the shape of a variety pack of biscuits, pistachio nuts (or were they cashews?!) and a million cartons of orange juice! Not to mention the sausage, and onion bag we had to make the line out of. With the odds stacked against us, we still managed to catch three crabs. (Vicki 2, Heidi 1, Lizzy 0!) One of them only had one pinsar, but still managed to win the race back into the sea. After this epic evening of crabbing we walked around the boatyard and finally view'd the TUG! It was a beauty, and if I'm honest a lot bigger than first anticiapated. Fishing should be fun.

We were going to go to the Vic for a drink, but sadly as we finished past closing time we couldn't. Next time I say we go to the pub first! Drunk Late night crabbing-What a hoot!

It would be fair to say a grand old time was had by all!

There were photo's to accompany this entry, but on closer inspection they aren't that good as it was so dark :(

Calm Down Dear! [Friday, May 11th, 2007 at 4:53pm]
[ mood | bored ]

What to write?

Today was fun. In English, Jawge wrote in my sparkley book, all the things I could do with it. One of them was to make a "special" List. I did this, and consequently lots of people are now on this infamous list along with numerous strikes depending on how much they annoy me. 'Citing. 'Dith features on it, but after the third strike she told me what to do whith my strikes :(

In other news, Mrs L.E's son came into school today. He is SO cute! We all wanted to kidnap him, she was chasing people who hadn't yet finshed their English, mine was in ageeeeees ago, so this made me feel rather smug!

I also sampled some of Janis Cave's quiche this morning. It was my most favourite, out of all the quiches!

There was an incident with my face, Lizzy's make-up and some rather dubious woody pencil, but the less said about that the better.

END.

Don't Bother. [Monday, April 23rd, 2007 at 12:29am]
[ mood | uncomfortable ]

Hello!

Tonight, I went to the Jamie T gig. It was much fun, and I am still rather hyped up so decided to write in here instead of sleeping. I (as usual) took my place on the sidelines to watch the action at a distance. I am glad I took the precaution today, as there was much rioting in the centre of the venue. 'citing, nice to have a bit of conflict, it certainly made it more colourful.

Alas. I have been contemplating, and thinking about a lot of things recently. I think its easy to get stressed about small things, if they are part of a much larger picture made up of things to worry about. Needless to say, this is causing me much hassle, and I cannot wait until tomorrow is over. I often think that the only reason I am a friend to some people is because of what I can do for them. Who knows, but more importantly, who cares?

I now have my dress for my party, which with any luck should be a joyous event. The guestlist so far makes for interesting reading! Lots of Aunties and Uncles who will surely arrive with many overfriendly hugs and lots of "oh, haven't you grown?".

What else? Went to the Barley Mow last night, which was a real confidence boost, and I really, really, truly truly felt appreciated and valued. Gosh, it was fun!

That is all.

Lizzy's "Special" Day! [Wednesday, April 11th, 2007 at 2:13pm]
[ mood | groggy ]

Bonjour!

As my trip to the zoo was unexpectedly cancelled, Lizzy and I decided to do something raucous instead. We had two criteria, this raucous event couldn't be in Ipswich and had to include a train (yay!) So, we decided to go to Norwich to see the tourist attractions. Due to an unmentionable incident with my bionic knee, we left a bit later than anticipated, and only had time for one attraction. This was Norwich Castle. I was glad that on our arrival there was a lift for those who couldn't quite manage the stairs. We looked around all of the castle, including the "keep" and the iceni and roman exhibition. I dressed up as a viking in the Viking exhibition. We also visited the natural history part of the castle where we spotted much insect damage on the exhibits. After lunch (in the Castle!) we visited the Norfolk Regiment museum, which was cool. It had a bergan that was as heavy as one the current soldiers would have to carry. We both had a go at lifting it, and it nearly pulled me over backwards it was so heavy.

After the cultured morning, we ventured into Norwich city centre, where much shopping took place. Lizzy bought boots and I bought new trainers. I also saw a dress in Monsoon I thought would be great pour my party, alas, it looked great on the hanger but awful on me. Entwistle bought a stripey top from there though, which is rather nice.

I really enjoyed it, the only bad part of the day was that I have a damn cold/sore throat/cough. It was equally as bad this morning, so I couldn't go to work and am consquently sitting here waching doctors. I hope it sorts itself out soon, or else I might just die.

Bonjour!

I have decided to write about mine and George's trip to the infamous Aldeburgh yesterday (I sit here in my brand spanking new Jack Wills top) So, I caught the bus, and it seemed like I was on there for about a week. I was glad to get off, but found out that excessive sitting brings out my limp!

Eventually I got there and our first port of call was of course Jack Wills. I had a brief look then decided I wanted some Lunch. George and I went off in a northerly direction in search of the nearest tea room. We found one, named "The Cragg sisters tea room" It seemed pretty empty, so we thought we would try our luck. It was the most hillarious hour of my life to date. The woman decided to serve grapes with absolutley everything including my lemon cake. George's cheese salad was in fact cheese and salad, and my smoked salmon sandwich had what looked like the contents of a fruit bowl tipped on top of it. Despite the rather shoddy presentation, it was actually rather nice (Like the dundee cake!) The daft old bat forgot to charge us for the lemon cake though, so we left her a 50p tip and legged it, laughing smugly. After this we got some ice-cream and walked towards the direction of THE shell. We clambered over it, and took some photo's which was much fun. We walked back into the town, I purchased my rouge top from Jack Wills, shortly afterwards we adjourned to the Co-Op! It was worthy of an exclamation mark, as we saw Co-Op boy! He was a fitty *cough* At this time I realised I had to attend Holy Thursday Mass so we decided to go home. The 1550 bus was late so we had to catch the 1650 bus, and I got there, just. Mass was cool, as was my reading. Rev was impressed-he told me this at communion! I also saw Fenella Matthew, which made my day complete.

A grand old time was had by all.

This evening, Lizzy and I are off to Boxford to visit Ellen and co for a bonfire. I am going to wash my hair for the occasion. I don't know why as it will just get more smoky, however it is such a mess, I fear a wash is the only thing that will sort it out.

That is all.

Bonjour!

Today, has been really good. It started off with a physio sesh avec the awesome sue. We indulged in some ultrasound, and we made a crucial next step in recovery, namely loosing the tape on my leg. It makes me sad, that no longer do I have any cause to call myself a cripple! I then went into school to do basically nothing, apart from talk to dith for about 5 seconds about my media coursework, to find out that the last draft wasnt the last draft, and in fact I have the whole easter holiday to finish.

Then Jawge, Povey and I went to see "I want Candy". This was tres amusement, especially the "jizz" scene, such larks! I also, finally bought my perfume today, as a treat for working so hard all month.

This evening saw,Liz, Gem and I venture to the Legendary Witnesham Village Hall to do the quiz. Some of the random audience participants were utter gayers and argued with me about points. Needless to say, deductions were made, as the quiz-masters decision is final! After this raucous event, we went to the Barley Mow pub and met with Charlie, Alex, Alistair, Jack and PJ for cokes! This was fun, (almost Aldeburgh fun!) and a grand old time was had by all.

I also purchased my Jamie T tickets this eve. It works perfectly as Cat and I will be in Norwich visiting our dear friend Bish Mish. We will just have to sneak Lizzy in somehow!

Work tomorrow, then OLD RUSS! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Mash-up! [Tuesday, March 20th, 2007 at 4:44pm]
[ mood | happy ]

Bonjour!

I don't have a great deal to say, however I was determined to write an entry just to prove that I do have an interesting life!

La stras last week was not all it was cracked up to be. I lie. It was actually quite good, other than the absolutley dismal hotel aptly named "Mister Bed" (The jokers!) And the extremely gargantuan crepe lady publicly admitting she hated me. I got the last laugh though, as after all she is FAT (note, not with a -ph!) The cathedral was cool, as was the gallery we visited one afternoon. Much drinking took place all trip, however I stayed firmly on the wagon. A cheap bottle of char-don-aaaaaaay and some Rose is not going to sway me!

So, to the weekend! This started Friday evening. Ellen and I went to Sainsburies (for a change!) and we bought things for dinner, and the now obligitary cranberry and raspberry juice. We then came back, and cooked some rather nice tuna pasta. Before......we went to the school Irish night. This was FAB! Much dancing, quizzes and raffles ensued (actually, there was only one quiz, and one raffle, but still!) It was a really enjoyable evening, and I hope Lucie raised lots of money for the gap year.

Saturday, was quite cool. Work was fun for a change, despite the fact I had to do rubbish and started at 0700. I think it was just because I was generally in a good mood. I then went to Anna's Irish do, which was okay. I think I would have rather gone to the "do" Jessie and Shelia went to. They had a waltz and all the food you could eat for a mere £3.50!

And then Sunday, mothers day. We visited all the grandmothers of the Barham/Rivers family which was fun and exciting. I also went to church and purchased mother a cup of tea and a scone afterwards.

Today, We had an interesting English lesson and no R.E but (If you EVER read this Vicki!) I actually did some of the presentation avec some custom animation. I think all it needs now is a picture of the one and only Peter Vardey, and its in the bag!!

Neon Bible. [Saturday, March 10th, 2007 at 11:15pm]

Bonjour!

I update after what has been a rather cool two weeks. I take ye back to this time last week, when Ellen and I embarked on a trip to Londres (avec Eliz et Daddy man) to see the feeling. The gig was amazement! The Feeling were fantastic, the lead man was very jumpy energetic, and really threw himself into the performance and all that jizz. They had a cool youtube-ness bit at the beginning, and The Fray were supporting. They did their one famous song, and some others. They were good if not a bit samey.

The week then consisted, of school and physio, which was fun!! The best physio was on Friday, when Ellen and I went to Aldeburgh and cycled from there to Thorpness and back. It was soooooooo much fun. We managed to "lash the bikes up good" and alas they didn't fall off. It was one of those evenings when everything goes right. There wasn't even a queue in the fish and chip shop until after we left, which made me say "HA!" in a loud voice, as we sped off in the Corsa. The trip back was most enjoyable with many mini eggs and a can of WD40-such japes. We also encountered a rather strange man in the PACE petrol station. I think he was some sort of inbred, as he looked like he could have quite easily been an extra in Shaun of the Dead. When we returned chez Barham, there was a fire engine in the road. We were all ready for some raging inferno, when in actual fact it was merely a cat stuck up a tree. This was most dissapointing. I also saw most of "Becoming Jane" With the one and Only (Lorna) Povey and Ali. It was an enjoyable film, plenty of Mr Tumness/Lefroy action. Speaking of Povey she left me out of the English team on Friday. Gaaaaah, If only I would have remembered prosodic features. They are my most favourite of all the features!!

I also got my hair cut on Wednesday. Its not dramatically different, but I like it!

That is all!

[ mood | amused ]

Bonjour!

I haven't updated for what seems like an age.

So, Half term was ski trip. This was huge fun until I had accident number two. This involved the tearing of my medial ligaments on the blue run. I was skiied down by the mountain rescue people to the cable car, where Mr. Toombs and I gave Austrian children an impromptu Anglias lesson. I was also given a biscuit?! We then got into the ambulance, where I was driven at high speed to the local A&E. It was there I was issued with my now infamous purple crutches. They rock!

The rest of the trip was average, but also cool as I still got to sit at the top of the mountain drinking hot chocolate.

Whilst away, I got my room decorated, its now rather sophisticated, and I can sit at my desk, which means I am writing this entry from my room!

The week after that was pretty mediore, nothing of major excitement.

Until today! Lizzy and I went to the races. There was much banger action and some cute mini stox. I wouldnt mind driving one of those, although I would probably get beaten in the first lap. That whole racing lark is actually more expensive than one originally thought though. And, I smell of petrol which makes me sad.

I also ventured into work today, on the crutches which made me some sort of hero at Debs. They were so proud of me *wells up* I nearly died having to explain to about a million people what happened.

HELEN MIRREN=GOD!

END.

EDIT: After having a lengthy conversation with Shelia, I found out that the skiing injuries were in Saturdays Evening star (Page 11) Whoever wrote it has seriously dumbed it down. Typical of the local rag, which is usually full of insipid rubbish.

This week has been so far so good.

The weekend was cool. Ellen and I went into town to do shopping. This sort of failed and I only came away with perfume. Ellen bought a bra that looks like P.E shorts. We also went to Halfords for assorted car bits. I fixed Ellen's dodgy headlight and topped up the screenwash. *cough* I think I would make a remarkable mechanic!! That evening we were joined by Annie and B. We all went on a jolly jaunt to the Tuddenham fountain. The food was nice. The conversation, although somewhat odd was hilarious. We SO have to do it again!!

Sunday, Cat and I went to Norwich to see the Bishop. Lots of cool photo's to follow, when I can be bothered to get them off my phone's memory card. They will not dissapoint!

Yesterday we embarked on another trip into the now infamous Town, to help Annie purchase a present for James. She didn't find anything suitible, and my suggestion of a bible wasn't too well received!!

Tomorrow I give blood and get my hair DIED! (I am more nervous about the dying than the old blood donation) I will take photo's of both!!
